The 2017 Academy Awards Took Place This Past Weekend To Business As Usual And Then Some Surprises Throughout The Night Making It One To Remember!
When it was announced that Jimmy Kimmel was going to host the festivities for the annual Academy Awards many wondered if he would bring the same type of style that he does into his nightly show to the big night or if he would switch things up since everyone in the crowd isn't fans but the talent attending for the Oscars themselves. Most of the winners were by the book and not surprising as Casey Affleck won Best Actor for his role in Manchester By The Sea and at the time it was between him and Denzel Washington for his role in Fences. La La Land ended up taking home 6 trophies in the night and in true Academy fashion Damien Chazelle won Best Director for his work on the film and many wondered if La La Land would clean up all of the bigger categories and then a Malcolm Butler type event happened. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway came out to present Best Picture for the anniversary of Bonnie And Clyde and when the winner was announced Beatty sort of hesitated and took a pregnant pause before having Dunaway say "La La Land" won Best Picture. But about a minute into their acceptance speech apparently the cards were switched around and Moonlight was the deserving winner and the producers of La La Land welcomed them on stage with high fives and hugs even though it was a giant cluster that nobody understood really and might not understand for some time.
After Giving Negotiations Another Chance Director Matt Reeves Is Now Helming The Batman Film.
If you were to ask me personally about the chances of Reeves signing on to direct the solo installment of The Batman after the meeting he had with Warner Brothers where rumor has it that negotiations had to break off because it basically became a shouting match and both sides were disagreeing on so much internally that it didn't feel worth it. Well what a difference a few days make I guess where now Reeves has signed on the dotted line and agreed to direct the film as soon as all of the junkets for War For Planet Of The Apes is over. We could expect to see the solo Batman film in mid 2019 to early 2020 as of right now and nothing else was written in stone but as far as it is known that Deathstroke will still be involved in the story they are going to make and some version of Affleck's script will be used in this process as well. Whether or not you could say this is Ben's last outing as the caped crusader is up in the air at the moment but for right now he's your Batman and he's ready to take on the Batman as soon as possible.
Alien Covenant Took To Social Media With A New Poster And Trailer!
This next installment in the Alien franchise has been hitting on every note and has been doing so many things right to get people excited for Covenant when it finally hits screens in May. Whether it is releasing the prologue video on Youtube that Ridley Scott let his son Luke direct or the ominous posters that simply tell you that you need to "RUN" and "HIDE" from things like the Xenomorph and the Egg before it hatches because if you know this franchise at all once the egg opens any human life around is not safe. This new preview did give audiences a bit more for those who were left in the dark and it looks like a good next chapter in the Prometheus storyline along with bringing that grit and danger and utter badassness of the Alien franchise since this new film looks like a straight up horror movie and something you would never want to encounter in this lifetime or any other for that matter.
David Ayer Takes To Social Media To Boost Gotham City Sirens!
During the night of the Academy Awards director David Ayer had himself a bit of a night since his next film with Will Smith titled Bright showed its first trailer during one of the commercial breaks and 15 minutes before that his DC Baddie film Suicide Squad which was maligned to many fans of comic book films out there was able to take home an Academy Award for Hair and Makeup and while I personally think it was more then deserving many fans were bewildered that Deadpool was left empty handed and a movie everyone likes to use as a punching bag has one. Well amid all of the recent madness Ayer still had the chance to tweet out a photo of kingpin Black Mask who you might know as the bad guy in Batman Arkham Origins quoting before taking a drink. While some might look at this as nothing many will remember that Ayer did the same tactic when shooting Suicide Squad and this one photo might have more merit to it and could make Black Mask the bad guy who goes against Harley Quinn,Catwoman and Poison Ivy in the Sirens movie. I also heard that their is backwards way that if done correctly that Batgirl can be introduced as well and add a little extra girl power into the mix and if they need her down the road to be Oracle then they have that opening as well. This news is exciting since Ayer expressed that he wished he could have made The Joker the main villain in Suicide Squad and you know Mr.J will show up in the Sirens movie and he could butt heads with a fellow kingpin and shake things up a bit and show more of his character since he was barely involved in Suicide Squad and could use some redemption going forward if he will appear in the solo Batman film as well.
Legion Premieres To Big Numbers On FX And Shows That FX Has Another Hit On Their Hands
When the first footage of Legion premiered it was interesting to see actor Dan Stevens playing the role of Professor X's child who has a tough time controlling his outrageous amount of power he has. Stevens is playing the Beast in the live action Beauty And The Beast coming in March so seeing him tackling a TV series was a surprised. The show was something that felt like a slow burn so viewers can get a good idea of what happens in the ward Legion lives in and why he is being studied so closely given his ability to destroy an entire kitchen in one scream. Legion is something that isn't going anywhere anytime soon and could live on for multiple seasons in the future.
Ryan Murphy Surprised Fans With The Next Chapter Of American Horror Story And Its Plot!
With the most recent "My Roanoke Nightmare" shrouded in secrecy and many not knowing the basis of the last season until the night of the premiere many fans wondered if the same thing would happen this time around and it doesn't look like hardcore AHS fans need to wait any longer. On the Bravo show "Watch What Happens" Murphy was asked by host Andy Cohen if there was any news regarding the new season and Murphy didnt even skip a beat and said the new season will cover "The Most Recent Election". While Cohen was stunned to hear his response and maybe thinking it was a joke Murphy seemed 1000% serious about the idea and while it might seem like a joke because many fans were terrified when Donald Trump was named President of the United States some wondered why and how it could have all occurred. Well look no further because you will see the story told just how Ryan Murphy likes to tell it.
Logan Premieres To RAVE Reviews By Critics And Has A 96% Rotten Tomatoes Score So Far! Along With An After Credits Scene To Boot!
Many wondered if Logan could be one of those special superhero films that while being ultra violent and more serious then something like Deadpool or X-Men Apocalypse that it could get attention down the road from awards shows and getting rare recognition that very few films have coveted and even won. Well most to all critics who have gotten to see the film call this the Wolverine ending we deserve and something that is a fantastic film. So with March 3rd weeks away it was also announced that while critics did not see this but on opening night there WILL be an after credits scene at the end of the film and this was confirmed by the films director. For me personally I just have this gut feeling that all fans will have the carpet pulled out from below them and Ryan Reynolds will appear as Deadpool in a short scene so it doesn't have a ton to do with the film itself.
Zack Snyder Says A New Justice League Trailer Is Coming And Bad News Already For Wonder Woman.
When Wonder Woman debuted their first footage during last years San Diego Comic Con many fans said that it was arguably the winner of the weekend and a surprise that it was SO good given the maligned reaction towards Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad. Well now it looks like Wonder Woman might be falling into the same boat again as rumors are coming up that should most definitely be taken with a grain of salt that Suicide Squad was warned before its release for being a messy,boring film that will not live up to the hype the trailers garnered. Wonder Woman is now receiving some of the same reports saying that Warner Brothers hasn't learned their lesson and still is making films that are cut poorly and the storyline is hard to follow much like how BVS and Suicide Squad were. Director Zack Snyder tried to change the motion of the news and told fans via Twitter that a trailer for team up Justice League would be "Coming Soon" and added that there is a reason for the big gap and patience will pay off in the end. So hearing this story it is hard to imagine that Wonder Woman and even Justice League would bomb with fans and critics like its previous titles but at the same time with the news that Warners can't find a good director for The Batman and even possibly tapping Mel Gibson to direct the Suicide Squad sequel(Imagine that meeting!). It might just go to show that by the time 2017 wraps up theres a possibility that Ben Affleck wont be Batman anymore and the whole DCEU that Warners has built is getting scrapped and redone down the road.
